On the Swing Set

"Can you swing me, daddy?"
-sure I can!

"I wanta swing real high!"
-of course I can!

"The swing is squeaky."
-yes, it is. I’ll get some oil and fix it...

"Can you swing me, daddy?"
-how about this?

Silence as the air blows through her hair
and into her face, her eyes closed listening
to the rush in her ears and feeling
the up and down in her stomach.

And me, just watching, and often pushing.
